SpriteBatch and 3D meshes

I have been using the SpriteBatch from a early build of DirectXTK for some time now. I modified the SpriteBatch to support animated sprites.

Now, I'm creating 3D game and am having issues mixing 3D and 2D. The game seems to render for 2-3 frames before my graphics driver breaks and the program seems to point towards different errors.

I'm just curious if anyone has some ideas on how to mix 3D and 2D and any graphics settings that need to be set before drawing the 3D.
